Olga Segura, who is an immigrant from the Dominican Republic, will invite us to consider the race and culture we have been born into, one that we did not choose.  We will hear how culture shapes us positively and negatively, and how these experiences affect the way we relate to people different from ourselves.  We will explore what our Catholic faith teaches about white supremacy and about transforming that and any other injustice that exists within us individually and collectively.

Olga Marina Segura is a freelance writer and the culture editor at National Catholic Reporter.  She is the author of Birth of a Movement: Black Lives Matter and the Catholic Church.  Previously, she was an associate editor at America Media, where she wrote and solicited articles on race and culture.  She is co-founder and former co-host of the poscas, "Jesuitical." Her writing has appeared in The Guardian, Latino Rebels, Shondaland, Sojourners, Refinery29 and the Revealer.
