Ms. Stanton will ground us in the ancient history of ordained women deacons and show how women are answering the call to serve the church today.  We will discuss the global synod, and how it relates to a vision for an inclusive diaconate.  Why is this the perfect time to engage in this dialogue? howe an we work together toward a diaconate that is synodal? She will share experiences advocating through DIscerning Deacons for women to be empowered to be bold and unapologetic about their contributions, as so many are already living a diaconal vocation.

Casey Stanton worked more than a decade in social concerns ministries within parish life and in broader, faith-based coalitions. Most recently she was Adult Faith Formation Minister at Immaculate Conception Parish in Durham, NC.  She holds a BA from the University of Notre Dame and Master of Divinity degree from Duke Divinity School, graduating with a certificate in prison studies.  A Boston native Casey is proud to make Durham home with her husband Felipe and their children Micaela and Teddy.
