This talk addresses the question of LGBTQ+ justice through the lens of Catholic Social Teaching. The first part focuses on why issues of sex and gender are essential justice concerns, particularly within the Catholic Church and the United States. In the second part, we will explore how the core principles of Catholic Social Teaching, human dignity, solidarity, and the common good, call us to confront injustices faced by LGBTQ+ communities. Amidst the polarization within both society and the Church, we will uncover tools for transformation and recognize the agency already at hand to broaden and renew the Church’s mission of welcome.
